The party continued after the Jimmy Buffett concert.......I don't think the concert had any effect on that, it just happens when you are in Las Vegas, one of the few places in the world where you can find anything you want 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year. We managed to spend a few hours a day at the MGM pool with our friends, relaxing but not necessarily giving our livers a rest.
We also found time to see the start of the World Series of Poker final table who were all guaranteed a 9th place payout of $750K but were more focused on the winner's $8.6M bounty. It was fun to watch their family and friends cheering sections who were all likely flown to LV by their hosts who had big pay days ahead. The final 3 players were all under 28 years old and Rhonda took the opportunity to remind me that my dream of making it to the final table was becoming less likely with the passing of years (mine) where the toll of successive 12-14 hour days at the table made it more difficult for 'older' players to maintain their focus........my dream continues.
A trip to visit some Calgary friends in their Sumerlin winter home, a stop into the Pawn Stars store, several nice meals and happy hour stops along with a few shopping trips filled up our days. No extended gambling sessions with our group, and no serious damage, so we didn't help pay for all the neon lights. Last night we all went to the LV Halloween Parade near Freemont Street and it was quite entertaining to see the outfits and vehicles that had been dressed up. We had dinner at an outdoor patio on the strip watching filming of Hangover 3 (helicopters dropping parachute actors towards Caesars Palace and Belagio) and more of the dress-up fun. Several ideas for our next visit!
Today, Rhonda and I went out to Red Rock Canyon for some hiking and a tour of Spring Mountain Ranch, the home of several 1950-60's celebrities and some interesting history. We caught up with our friends just before they were departing for their trip back to cold and snowy Calgary. We had a great time together but fortunately we don't have jobs to return too, so our trip will continue on.
